Are you high on sugar?
Well I’m and I decided that I’ll really watch what I eat and what I buy.Our daily sugar ceiling is 11 teaspoons ( I eat more that that L ) and it can adds up not only in sweets but also in processed foods.
) and it can adds up not only in sweets but also in processed foods. If you have a trouble to loose last few pounds, one of the culprits might be sugar overload from packaged foods and drinks. And the sweetener that’s getting the most scrutiny these days is high-fructose corn syrup ( HFCS). I went to a grocery store to check how many products contain HFCS. I couldn’t believe it but I was hard to find a product WITHOUT corn syrup!!! No wonder that we are overweight in USA. It is no usual to use corn syrup in Europe.
Since its introduction in the early 70s, its use skyrocketed and it’s now showing up in everything from sodas to steak sauce. Some research suggests HFCS, made synthetically from cornstarch, acts differently in your body than table sugar and actually makes you feel hungry!
The real issue here is how much of all sugars we are getting. Our best decision should be to cut back on added sugar whatever its form. So check the label; If sugar or HFCS in one of the first three ingredients, walk AWAY! And when you are grocery shopping, use this quick trick to find out how many teaspoons of sugar are in a product:
Divide the total grams of sugar on the label by 4. For example, a product with 32 grams of sugars has 8 teaspoons per serving.
