Are your new years resolutions already slipping?
You decided to get healthier in 2007 but you feel that it is getting harder and harder? It is. We don’t have enough patience to wait for the results and often slip back to back habits.
How long does it take for a lifestyle change to become a routine?
three to six months a minimum
Our new behavior can’t become permanent over the night. We know it takes time to learn to play golf or master some music instrument, but with behavior change we expect to instantly succeed.
Ask for the support of friends and family, find a healthy substitute for the bad behavior, establish a reward system, and steer clear of triggers. Not enough? Turn a vague resolution such as “I’m going to be healthier” into a concrete goal like ” I’ll take a walk every day”.
