Do you fly?

Do you fly for longer than 2 hours? Pick an aisle seat. It’s better for your health. You should try to move every hour during a long flight. Sitting in one place for long periods may put you in a risk of clots blood. Every hour you should do some stretching. Move your joints in a circular motion– wrist, ankle, head, for a few minutes.

Why the aisle seat? You don’t have to excuse yourself when sitting by the aisle. You can get up and move your body anytime you want without disturbing the person sitting next to you.

Don’t drink alcohol when you fly. It’ll dehydrate your body dangerously. Many European Airlines offer free alcoholic drinks on their flights. Some people feel like they should drink as many drinks as possible because of this offer.
On my flight from Europe I was worried about 2 women sitting close to me. They were probably a mother and daughter in their late 70’s and 50’s. I couldn’t believe how many drinks they had! They had 2 glasses of champagne before the first meal, 2 glasses of wine during the meal, glass of Baileys after the meal and some beers between meals. I was really worried about their health during the flight. I was refreshing my CPR skills in my head because I was so afraid that one of them might collapse.
Flight itself will dehydrate along with dehydratation from the alcohol and sitting for many hours – that’s a deadly combination.

My advice to you on a long flight is:
Drink plenty of water before, during and after the flight.
Get up and stretch each hour.
